Delhi Man Arrested for Opening Doors of Moving Vehicles to Shoot Viral Reel; Police Crack Down on Dangerous Stunt

New Delhi, India — 17 February 2026: A shocking video showing a man dangerously opening the doors of moving cars and buses on a busy Delhi road to capture a social media reel has sparked widespread outrage and prompted swift action by the police.

The 12-second clip circulating on platforms like Instagram and X shows the man riding a motorcycle without a helmet, weaving through traffic and repeatedly reaching out to open the doors of passing vehicles — including a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus and other cars — even as they moved at speed on a congested street in the New Usmanpur area of northeast Delhi.

🔎 Police Action and FIR Registration

Delhi Police took prompt notice of the viral footage and registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the New Usmanpur police station under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Indian Penal Code for dangerous driving and endangering public safety.

The accused has been identified as 22-year-old Tushar Puniya, who was arrested following investigation and analysis of CCTV footage used to track his movements. His motorcycle — reportedly ridden without a number plate — was recovered by authorities.

An accomplice seen filming the reel with him is currently being traced by the police for further questioning and possible charges.

⚠️ Public and Online Reaction

Social media users condemned the stunt as reckless and irresponsible, arguing that no amount of views or likes is worth risking human lives. Several commentators stressed that dangerous road stunts like this can easily trigger serious accidents involving pedestrians and other road users.

Traffic safety advocates have called for stricter enforcement of road rules and harsher penalties for those who perform similar acts for online attention — emphasizing that such behaviour not only violates the law but also threatens the safety of commuters and passengers.

🚦 Legal Consequences and Road Safety

Under Section 281 of the Motor Vehicles Act, actions that display recklessness or disregard for public safety on roadways constitute an offence and can lead to fines, suspension of licence, or even imprisonment depending on the severity of the violation.

Delhi Police have reiterated that they will continue cracking down on traffic violations, especially those spurred by social media challenges or stunts that endanger lives.
